Bidding farewell to our much beloved People&Planet Project is an emotional one as it has been central to SLÍ's work over the last four and half years. It allowed us to explore sustainability and climate action with people on the ground in Waterford in a huge number of ways including art, science, workshops, film screenings and theatre. That's why we wanted to go out with a bang and boy did we!

SLÍ, The Art Hand, and our amazing Youth Advisory Climate Council (YACC) teamed up for a vibrant street action—right on the beach! We invited young people & families enjoying the day to join us in creating a powerful piece of sand artivism: a giant sun with our logo at the centre, 🌞 surrounded by 17 rays, each representing a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). Each of us claimed a ray and proudly shouted out our SDG—💬✨ sparking laughter, connection, and real conversations about sustainability.

🌀 Flowing from the sun were bold arrows — representing a new, inclusive, sustainable path forward for everyone, everywhere. These messages stretched right across the beach for maximum visibility, proving that even the tide can’t wash away a good idea 🌊➡️🌍

🎓💡 Through simple, creative engagement, we showed how art, fun, and critical reflection can inspire everyday activism. 🌱✊

🔁 Sand art is sustainable (no waste! no materials! just nature + creativity) and it connects directly to climate issues, especially around water, rising seas, and coastal change. 🧂🌎💧

Let’s keep pushing for a more sustainable neighbourhood, city, country and world—one casual, creative, collective step at a time. 👣💚
