What a day! SLI Does Science brought science to life at SprÓg 2025. From budding gardeners to curious eco-scientists, children of all ages rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into a world of creativity, sustainability, and discovery.
Our activity stations were a hive of energy, laughter, and learning, with families joining us throughout the day to take part in hands-on experiments using everyday materials.
Here’s what we got up to:
🌱 GIY – Plant Today, Munch Tomorrow
Children learned how to grow their own food from scratch, planting their very own seeds to take home — a tasty start to a greener future!
🐝🌸Buzz and Bloom Bombs
Little hands crafted colourful wildflower seed bombs to help our native pollinators. Bees and butterflies, you're welcome!
🧟♂️Frankenstein Food
Think food scraps are just rubbish? Think again. Who knew waste could taste so wonderful?
📰 Fold, roll, grow – the eco way to sow.
Getting crafty, kids turned old newspapers into biodegradable plant pots — a beautiful blend of upcycling and green thinking.
Keep growing, keep experimenting — and we’ll see you next year! 🌍✨
🌍 It was hands-on, educational, and a whole lot of fun.
A big shout-out to our friends at The Munster Express and Waterford News & Star for their generous donation of newspapers — keeping things crafty and low-waste!
