A poem from our very own YACC member - Charlotte Dwan.
She read this as part of Voices of Tomorrow - Performing for Our Planet.
In meadows kissed by golden rays,
A story of the bees I'll raise,
Their buzzing wings, a melodic hum,
A plea to save them, every one.
In gardens blooming, colours bright,
They toil from dawn 'til dusky night,
With delicate grace, they dance and sip,
Pollinating life's precious script.
But now they face a daunting plight,
Their numbers dwindling, out of sight,
Habitats lost, pesticides take toll,
The bee's plight weighs heavy on my soul.
Let's plant a garden, diverse and grand,
A sanctuary in this vast land,
With vibrant blossoms, rich and sweet,
A haven where the bees may meet.
We'll shun the toxins and harmful sprays,
Embrace compassion in different ways,
For in their plight, we all are bound,
Their survival, with ours, is tightly wound.
So let us stand, united strong,
To heal the damages done so long,
By saving bees, we'll find the key,
To nurture Earth's biodiversity.
For in their wings, hope takes flight,
A symbol of nature's endless might,
Together, hand in hand, we'll strive,
To ensure the bees forever thrive
It's time for humanity to take a vow,
To protect these pollinators, here and now
