🧠 In a world where news travels faster than ever, learning to pause and think critically has never been more important. The Dismiss Media Manipulation Conference invites young people to explore how information shapes the way we see the world — from our views on climate change to the clothes we buy.

🌍 Understanding Media Influence
Every day, our attitudes toward nature, renewable energy, and global challenges are shaped by what we read and watch — often online. But how often do we stop to ask: Where is this information coming from?

This conference offers an eye-opening opportunity for senior cycle secondary school students to learn how to:

  • Identify misinformation and fake news
  • Evaluate sources and spot bias
  • Understand how media reporting affects our perception of climate science and environmental issues

🎙️ Morning Session: Learning from the Experts
The day begins with speakers and resources from the Dismiss Erasmus Project, sharing insights into how media narratives are formed and how to challenge them. Through interactive talks and activities, participants will gain practical tools to navigate the modern media landscape with confidence.

💬 Afternoon Workshops: Exploring Three Voices
In the afternoon, participants will get hands-on with practical sessions exploring three key voices:

  • The Political Voice – How governments and institutions frame climate and environmental stories.
  • The Creative Voice – Using art, film, and storytelling to raise awareness and inspire change.
  • The PR/Social Voice – How social media and branding influence what we believe and buy.

These sessions encourage collaboration and critical thinking — empowering young people to become active, informed media participants rather than passive consumers.
